Arts & Humanities 2012

Its October 25, 2012, 11:90 p.m. today was the first show of the school year... The arts and humanities show and might I say it was a success! Everything went smooth... well except for a microphone incident in the vocal department but the jazz band killed it. They saved the best for last. Tonight I did my first solo at my school, and it was on Spain by Chick Corea, I was so nervous I felt like I was going to throw up or pass gas, but I didnt, thank God. After the show everyone said my solo was good but I still think it was alright. Its funny I don't think any artists says that his/her solo was good. I guess its because we all strive to do better.
Anyway I wanna catch you guys up on what I've been up to lately. Homework. At this point I'm slipping and I need to get myself back on track because since I need to catch up on work I've been missing my Wednesday jazz house kids classes and private lessons with Ed. I've got to get my stuff together. Thank god I have Friday off to get situated. I promise that I will not destroy my future and I will get a scholarship to college.

My #1 Promise.

Today is Thursday October 4th, 2012 5:46 p.m. . I just came out of my schools jazz rehearsal and I walked out to see my mom with, of course, Nelson... in his car. Nelson is the guy who was "supposed" to be my step dad but he and my mom  keep having major fights... and now I see them together again. What the fuck?! Excuse my language but I just don't comprehend, why are you keep going back to him? Anyway, I just want to add to my list of promises that I will be an independent woman. I won't rely on any man, or woman trying to help out. I will take care and do things for my self. For now on I will be my own back up, resources, etc.

Promises to the future.

I promise my self to :
1. Be successful
2. Buy a house ... not a huge house though.
3. Make sure I have a music room. Or a studio in the basement. I would love that.
4. Buy a bass clarinet and play it all the time.
5. Find the right guy. So far I think the guy will be silly, romantic, serious when needs to be, and a person that can make me laugh.. and I mean a real laugh.. not one of those laugh where its a pitty laugh, or a "it was so corny that it was funny" laugh, a good laugh to the point that I'm crying and my stomach hurts.
6. I don't know about having kids yet because child birth still grosses me out but adopt.
7. Never be too "busy" for family.
8. Stay in the NJ - NY area just in case of a family emergency.
9. Live in Montclair... if possible
10. When I get enough money help out Paterson.
11. When I get money don't be stupid. Invest it in a business (like Magic Johnson did) or save it. And of course make sure my whole family has what they need. Also give to my church.
12. Just cause I have it now doesn't mean to go crazy and buy things that I won't even need.
13. MY CAR WILL BE A VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE! In light pink, light green, silver, champagne, or black. It can be the old model or the new it doesn't matter.
14. ALWAYS!! stay in contact with people. ALWAYS!
15. Never stop watching cartoons.
16. Exercise.. I don't want to be a blob when I'm 40.
17. Visit Mr. Davis at school if hes still there or at his house and bring the whole crew of D.M.C.M.B. ... (Class of 2014's Instrumental Majors of Rosa Parks High School) Stands for Deonte Thomas, Monae Clancy, Christine Howard (me) , Malcolm Richards, and Brian Stephan. I made the name. Get it cause of Y.M.C.M.B. ... get it? Lol
18. TAKE DAVIS'S JOB. Of course when he retires... I don't care what I'm doing at the time I can still do that and be a teacher.

Just thinking

Its October 3, 2012 11:10 a.m., I'm at lunch, just thinking. I wish I had my head phones so I can drown out the sounds of my peers around me. Earlier today there was this poet, Charles Johnson, guest speaking to the class. Mr. Johnson was explaining how poetry was his reality & how it takes him to a different time ... I completely understood. That's how I feel about music. My favorite quote is from Eminem - Cinderella Man , "Music is my time machine." Music can take you back to the 1800s, to a certain memory, anything in history... especially your own history. I don't know how my life would be without it. Probably meaningless, dry, unhappy. Mr. Johnson inspires me to pursue my dreams even more. And I'm so thankful for family and friends who support me. Of course all my family supports me but only few of my friends. Kerry Stevenson, Monae Clancy, Lauryn Muniz, Rafael Vasquez, Lamont "Dru" Pearson, Hector Gracias, Deonte Thomas, Tatyana Kincherlow. I love them. I truly do.
